![]() This take on the hero would inspire the Earth-11 Wonder Woman equivalent in one of the universes of The Multiversity, where he was renamed the more original "Wonderous Man." Giving the hero such a name separates him further from Marvel's Wonder Man who ironically wears a W on his shirt in a way similar to the Ajax Wonder Man. This Wonder Man had a costume and storyline most associated with Wonder Woman's, and he was the only one to really embody what a genderbent take on the Amazon heroine would entail. This included his killing "Maxine Lord" and sending his male Amazons on an attack against the United States. ![]() Thus, Diana of Themyscira was replaced by Dane of Elysium, whose history mirrored that of Wonder Woman's by that point. All the traditionally male heroes and villains were female, and vice versa. Featuring a multiversal story involving the world of Earth-11, this one-shot introduced a world of genderbent superheroes. The Countdown Presents: The Search for Ray Palmer introduced a more literal version of Wonder Man. Once Hercules' goals were revealed and Wonder Woman returned, his tenure as "Wonder Man" quickly came to an end. The tiara does more blatantly evoke Diana's look, however. One such plan involved him becoming "Wonder Man." These writers would also make his morality questionable, with his brief attempts at being a superhero being subterfuge for other ambitions. This included calling Zeus' powerful sons their correct Greek names of Ares and Heracles, though later writers would return to the erroneous title Hercules. The post- Crisis on Infinite Earths continuity rebooted Wonder Woman's mythology, with writer/artist George PĂ©rez initially making her stories closer to the actual Greek myths. ![]()
